When yahoo asked me to change my contact info for the new email address, it deleted my files on my account.?

When I signed on to Yahoo mail, it said I had to sign on to a new email account. When I did this, it deleted my old email address and all my mail for that day and all saved mail. I want to switch back to my old email address -through Yahoo Verizon ([email protected]) Please tell me what to do, or who to contact (customer service) regarding this matter.
