How can I return to Classic Yahoo Email?
-
I have the answer but it isn't so sweet. First off, if you are using a newer browser you won't be given a link to return to Classic Email (and the word “Classic” is a real stretch here). Actually there is a way though it appears that Yahoo is working hard to discourage the return to Classic email. For those who couldn't find the link in the upper left hand area of your email page and for all others, there are two methods for this return. 1. Call Yahoo Support (Business Account Holders Only) You can only call them if you have a business account. As usual with Yahoo, they are hiding behind their business-wall and don't have a live technical support phone number. Your account must be manually re-configured by a live operator. 2. *Use An Older Browser Version: If you access your email account with an older browser version (back to I-Explorer v6.0 e.g.) the link in the upper left-hand area will appear hereby you can simply click, give feedback (or not) and be returned to Classic Email. Is this frustrating? YES! Let Yahoo know by moving over to a business that actually values their customers! Just search for Free Internet Email and you'll have many results and just about all of them are better than Yahoo.

Answer:
There are many solutions to revert to the Classic Mail version. Yahoo support exists for personal accounts as well as for Business users. *Using an older browser version is unadvisable, since they have known exploitable vulnerabilities which have been resolved in newer versions. Not all solutions for reverting to Classic Mail work for all computer set-ups. That's why I have included several solutions. (There are other methods including disabling Javascript and changing the screen resolution size, but these are far easier for the less technically adept.) The first is the easiest, and permanent, with no nag screens. 1. Yahoo has a new Help page with a direct link to switching back to Classic Mail! This Help page link and solution are new, and a permanent change. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/context/migrationv2.html At the end of the second paragraph, click either [click here] IN BLUE or [No thanks. Continue to Yahoo Mail Classic] - whichever of those appears on your screen. 2. Use one of the following links each time you open your mail - save the Bookmark as a Favorite. Use them every time you visit Yahoo Mail, and you will get the Classic version! (If your account is registered in another country other than the US, the links should be changed to your country abbreviation. For example, change the 'us' and/or the '.com' portions of the links) http://mrd.mail.yahoo.com/switchclassic http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/launch 3. Only if those methods do not work, click Help on the mail page, then Contact us ... wait for a human on Live Chat, then be firm about your request. Be prepared with a list of reasons to switch back - to copy and paste into the Live Chat box. Refresh the page if the Chat is slow appearing. 4. IF all else fails, try contacting Yahoo! Customer Service, but you will need to be persistent to talk to a human, and must 'insist' on switching versions, even if they say at first that it cannot be done. Warning - the lines are very busy almost all the time. USA (6am to 6 pm, Pacific Standard Time) 1-866-562-7219, 1-800-318-0631, Yahoo Personal Email: 1-866-492-4664 (less known, so more chance to talk to a human, but a small fee for using this number) P.S. Yes, Yahoo has removed all links to change back to Classic, many months ago in their efforts to force users to change to the newer version. Even current users of Classic mail receive e-mails advising them to change to the newest. The Classic Mail version was totally rebuilt 'from the ground up' last summer, although the changes were all at the programming level, invisible to users. (Ribbit)
