What is VD?

I've rec'vd an e-mail [email protected] saying I've ordered an ipod...I didn't. What is this about?

  • The e-mail also said that they rec'vd $489.95 from my e-gold account?? I don't even know what this is! I wouldn't have ordered an Ipod for that much anyway. How do I stop this from going through?? They said that they FedEx 2nd day the item to me.

  • Answer:

Most likely it's just junk. Delete it and don't worry about it.

I also received the same email --------------------------------------… Dear [email protected] Please read the following message carefully. We notify that your order was approved and shipped to you via FedEx 2Day Service, track 792531143639. The amount of $489.95 USD was recieved from your e-gold account. The details of this transaction and specification of chosen product we send to you in self-extracting zip archive. Read it carefully to make sure that there's no mistakes in characteristics of chosen product. We appreciate your choice! According our rules, refund must be based on your original method of payment. Any requests to refund using e-gold are not accepted, if the payment method was credit card. It's a scam. Don't get involved with any calls to anyone. They will attempt to gain information from you. I got the same email yesterday and after going to the FEDEX sight with the tracking number, I grabbed a .pdf file showing the signature confirmation. Upon close inspection, it was supposedly delivered in Sept. 2005. I think the scam is set by gaining tracking numbers from FEDEX and then sending it out to people in hopes that they will freak out and start contacting them trying to stop any and all charges that may have been tabbed to their CC or bank. I would suggest you always monitor your credit report periodically to make certain no new accounts appear that you and not aware of. This should settle the nerves of online fraud...atleast for you.

I don't have an answer for you, but I recieved the same email. By following the tracking number for fedex (not the tracking number on email, but the one from fedex that you get by pressing the attachment email address at the bottom) I did find that someone signed for the delivery of an Ipod (they signed their name K Mann). I also looked up egold and found that they were based out of melbourne, fla....... coincidentally the same city I live in. I tried contacting them and they are closed until tuesday, but left a message. I really hope this is not identity theft, but if it is I am a very determined person who will find out who did this. If you have any info you have found please let me know,,,thanks. P.S. I found your question by asking the same question.

Sounds like a scam or I.D. theft. Check to make sure you don't have this kind of account by looking at a copy of your credity report. Second check all your other accounts to make sure you're not missing any money. Third if anything is in order then mark it spam so that you don't recieve the messages anymore. If something does show up report it immediately to the credity bureaus, the company sending the IPod, your credit card and bank and most importantly the authorities.

It is of course a scam. Once you get in contact with them, which is what they want, they'll try and get your credit card #. Don't fall for it. Check FED-EX.com and ask them if they have a package coming for you and I'll bet they don't.
