your email from yahoo is real. Yahoo must have verification of your email address and if you have not verified you email in your account, Yahoo will send an email asking for verification, or ask you each time you sign your ID in. You can tell its real as the emails from Yahoo asking for verification already have the ID stated, all you have to do is fill in the password. If you prefer this can be done in you account, under primary email etc (verification will be beside your email adress.) If it was a phishing page or false page it would ask you to sign you ID in as well as your password. Without verification, if yahoo has a "clean up" you could loose your ID as each time yo sign in your ID yahoo will not think you are a real person. It may think you are a BOT or a cracker.

If all 3, of the following statements, apply to the email address you are being asked to verify are true then it is a legitimate email from Yahoo! 1. You very recently opened your Account with Yahoo! 2. During registration you gave an alternate email address for the account. What is an alternate email address? To complete your registration for a Yahoo! account, you need to enter an alternate (non-Yahoo!) email address. We use the alternate email address to send you information regarding your account, updates regarding Yahoo!, and a new password if you ever need one sent to you. We have found this to be an effective tool, especially if someone is having problems with their Yahoo! Mail account. However, if you don't currently have an email address, you can leave this field blank when you register for a Yahoo! Mail account. Please Note: If you don't enter an alternate email address for your account, you will only be able to receive a new password by providing the Secret Answer to the Challenge Question you entered during registration. If you forget the answer to your Challenge Question and do not have an alternate email address listed on your account, you will not be able to receive a new password. 3. This email was sent to the alternate email address that you gave. If all of the above apply to the account that they want the email address verified for then the following apply: The email you received is part of an online verification process. In order to use certain areas within Yahoo!, we ask our members to verify their alternate email address with us. This is done to ensure the ownership and validity of the email address. Why do I have to verify my alternate email address? We require verification of a valid, alternate email address (not a Yahoo! Mail address) to protect your Yahoo! account and to: * Communicate with you if you're unable to log in to your account. * Alert you if we should witness suspicious activity with your account. * Issue you a new password if you ever forget your current one. * Ensure that your email address is valid and owned by you. If you did not request this email or information, you may remove your email address by clicking the removal link at the bottom of the email. If this link is not working, please let us know. How do I verify my alternate email address? To verify your alternate email address, please follow the steps below: 1. Go to any of Yahoo!'s personalized services (such as Yahoo! Mail, My Yahoo!, etc.) and sign in to your account. 2. Click the Account Info or My Account link at the top of the page. 3. Re-enter your password for verification. 4. Click the "Edit" button next to your "Member Information." 5. If you need to change or add an alternate email address, you can do so on this page. After you are done, click the "Finished" button, which will bring you back to your Account Information page. Then click on the "Edit" button next to your "Member Information" again. 6. If your alternate email address is already verified, it will say so. Otherwise, click on the "Click here to verify" link. 7. Click the "Verify Your Email Now" button. This will generate a verification email which you will receive at your alternate email address. 8. After you have received the verification email, follow the instructions contained within the email to verify your alternate email address.
