Upgrading yahoo mail to personal address mail - what happened to my old email account and inbox?

I am planning to upgrading my email account from a regular yahoo email to a personal address which has @my-company-name.com and 5 email user for that domain name. The problem is yahoo never state what happened to my old inbox or folders, is it deleted or will be moved to the new address? I really need the old mail because i never backed it up ([email protected] do not support pop mail). Also what happened with my old email address? Do i need to inform each of my contacts about my new addresses (1 of the 5 new address ?) Thanks in advance for your answers.
