Can i set my sent mails to generate an acknowledgment message when they are opened or read?

I experience a situation where i sent a mail and the receipient claim he is yet to open the mail. An acknowledgement message will surely forstal such denial. Or better still an enquiry menu to know the status of a sent mail. Pending, delivered, read, deleted without being read, status enquiry sort of.

yahoo free email doesn't provide "read receipts" facility. So, not possible with yahoo email.'

I asked about this a while back. Everybody told me it wasn't possible. Through Yahoo, MSN, Gmail, or otherwise. I know what you mean though. It WOULD be a nice feature.
