How can people join Yahoo groups without a Yahoo account?

Anyone else getting emails from spam Yahoo groups?

  • Lately, I have been getting emails from Yahoo groups (yes, it's actually groups, not phishing sites) that say "Please confirm your request to join..." But I never requested to join the group. First I thought it was my account getting hacked so I changed my password to something I've NEVER used and is really long of random numbers and letters. But I got another of those emails today. It's for spam groups though. Like today it was for the group called "Luis_webcams9b2h0u". And they're usually for spam webcam groups or something to that effect. I don't go into Yahoo chat so they can't be getting my info that way, and I don't give out my email to people unless I know them. So I'm not sure how these spam groups are trying to get me to sign up for them. Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Answer:

So far I've researched more than 200 spam and scam addresses to help other users, but your case is something which I've never heard of before. Even if the senders are no real Yahoo groups (you can't be sure), you should report it to Yahoo because the whole thing sounds fishy. Here's what you should do: forward such a mail to [email protected] and ask them about what's going on. How to forward: click the crtl key and at the same time click the "forward" button to forward a message as an attachment, mac users should click the "apple" key and click "forward" simultaneously. Hope you get this sorted...
