Why can't I view images in some of my emails?

I cannot view images on my emails in yahoo?

Some of the email I receive from reputable sites have images(these are not attachments). However, the images are not displayed. There is a cross icon on the top left hand side of the image. When I right click and choose 'Show Picture', it still does not show the image. However, when I forward the email to my hotmail account, the image is displayed perfectly in hotmail, so I assume it is not a browser issue. Any ideas how the image can be displayed in my yahoo email account?

at the bottom of the e-mail it says show html graphics. Just click on it and the images will appear

It is SpamGuard filtering out the pictures. Click on 'Options' in the upper right corner of your inbox, then select 'Spam Protection'. The Image Blocking preferences are at the bottom of that page. Be sure to save.
