  It is other parties that you want to send a copy of th email to but the email was not directed to them. For instance, you are writing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau about a dispute you have with a company and you want the company in question to be able to see that you are posting a dispute about them so you put their email in the cc box. They get a copy of the letter you are sending. Or at work, you are giving a directive to a company or another employee and it is important that the other employees know what you are directing so you cc them on the email so everyone is up to speed.
