How to connect emails together?

How do you stop the '....wants to connect with you' emails?

  • I am getting so fed up when my email 'dings' to find that I am receiving a '....wants to connect with you' message from people I've never heard of (or even from a mix of letters and numbers). To-day I received 11 messages. I delete them, but I wish some-one could tell me how to filter out these messages and still allow me to receive notification of my contacts' postings. (Flippant responses not appreciated)

  • Answer:

You are lucky you only got 11 messages today. I finally managed to block the emails yesterday and I had received over 5000! I was getting one every minute. You can place a filter on the address, so the emails go straight to trash.

1. Home > 2. My Activity > 3. Edit My Preferences: Privacy & Communications Send me an email when: Just untick the box which says "Someone becomes my fan" That is if you do not want to receive the notifications. If you do not want them to connect to you in the first place, just untick the box which says "Allow someone from Yahoo! Answers to be my fan".

What you got are no normal contact requests, they are spam! Since more than a week quite a few users have reported the same problem, it seems to be a new way of spamming, where once you accept the connection, the user posts the link to a pornography site. Be very careful, since such websites have been known to plant all sorts of malware on your harddrive! What you can do is this: 1: Go to "My Activity" at the top of this page, click "Edit My Preferences" -> click "Privacy and Communication". Scroll down and click "don't share my updates", hit submit. 2: On the mail screen click "options", at the top of the list unmark "enable updates", click "save changes" at the upper left. That may not stop all requests immediately, but it will slow them down considerably!

I am not Filipino. These answers are correct. You will not turn off your Yahoo! email but instead deny instant access to the Yahoo!Answers community. I did this yesterday because the cuckoo birds love to hate me. Silly people.
