How do I change or edit my email address in yahoo?

Is this a legitimate yahoo email or a scam?

  • I received an email from yahoo. In the subject line it said "Change Notification for your Extra Email address." Then it went on to say : You may have been receiving emails to your Extra Email Address with other yahoo domains, even though your email address ends with @yahoo.com. In order to improve the accuracy of emails received by you in your right accounts, you will no longer be receiving emails to any other domain that you did not sign up with. You will only receive emails to your Extra Email Address: ... Then it asks : Please make sure you provide the right Extra Email Addresses so you continue to receive the emails. To confirm your existing Extra Email Address: 1. In Yahoo! Mail, go to "Options," then "More Options" 2. From the menu on the left, click "Account" 3. Click "Add or edit an account" Is this a real email from the yahoo team or is this a scam?

  • Answer:

It's legitimate and has something to do with the disposable email addresses policy. I live in Australia so the disposable e-mails I have end in ".com.au". Now they're changing the policy so that all disposable e-mails end with just ".com". Read more in the link posted.

I'm wondering the same thing. My gut tells me this is a legit email, but it is very POORLY written! I'm hoping Yahoo provides some additional information.

Go Sharks!!!

I'm thinking scam/phishing because I'm not in Australia and I've never used anything but .com -tho' I have had some spam emails from Australia. What address are people getting this sent to? I would think it'd be sent to the secondary address if that's what it pertains to. Nope -I think its vermin at work again & I also think yahoo should be posting a notice on the home page about it one way or the other!

I got 2 of the same email. I am going to see if I can find out more about this because it makes no sense. In the From box, it reads: Yahoo Mail <[email protected]> Obviously, one can not response. ********Someone named Holygrail posted this in response to my same question. The information in the link is there, but is just about as confusing as the emails. Here's their response: "Yahoo! has changed their disposable addresses policy, so if your disposable addresses end with ".com.au", they will be changed to just ".com". Attn HolyGrail: When you click on the link you provide I understood it to mean the opposite- that is, if disposable address ends in '.com' it will now end in '.com.au' for australian acct. Is that right? My question is if you have disposable addresses that end in 'yahoo.com' and your primary/default yahoo account also ends with 'yahoo.com' NOTHING needs to be done (those of us in USA w/ yahoo.com accounts)? Correct?? [Also I chatted w/ tech support tonight and they said no policy change, just was confirmation of disposable address 'root' name you have, but I was concerned about no only problems getting those emails but receieving/sending off my default/main 'yahoo.com' account (my disposable accounts also have 'yahoo.com')] Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm currently investigating this email also, but I'm leaning towards it being SPAM.
