How to save changes made by Firebug permanently?

When I save changes in email general settings they don't take effect. What's happening?

• I have made changes in general settings for email and clicked the save button at the bottom of the page. The changes show as having been made, but the changes do not function. For example, I have unchecked the "warn about deleting all" box so that I don't have to repeatedly click on the okay button on the warning alert, but I still get the alert even though the box is unchecked. This is true even after logging out and logging back into the email account. I'm perplexed. My changes never seem to take effect.

  That's a new one on me.You can try a restart on the pc but that's about it.
