How to change my name on yahoo mail?

  • I went to change my name to my new legal name, now that I am married, on yahoo. On my profile it is the right one, but when I send emails to people they see my maiden name. I sent myself an email and it was the same thing, I had a little "key" next to my email address, but I have no idea if that is important to changing my name. Does anyone know how to change it so when I sent emails the right name will show?

    Just go into your settings and change the "from line" setting. Mail page>>options>>mail options>>and the "general" page opens. Near the top of that page----erase whatever is showing, on the "From line" and type in something else---a nickname or new last name---or anything you wish-----then click "save" changes at the top of page. ......................................… You cannot leave that line blank---otherwise Yahoo will insert something there---either the account name or most likely "False". ......................................… Just in case you're using the "New Mail". Mail page>>options>>mail options>>accounts (side panel)>>add/edit an account>>Yahoo mail (side panel)>>edit>>general preferences----and change it and save it.

You will also need to change it in the Options menu for Email. It's not a good idea to display your full name in Email though. Makes it too easy for hackers. CHANGE "FROM" NAME IN YAHOO MAIL 1. Click on the "Options", Mail Options link in the upper right of your yahoo mail page. 2. At the top of the General page that opens, go to the box across from "From", click in the box, delete what you have in there, and enter a nickname, email address or whatever you would like displayed in outgoing mail. 4. Most important, go to the top left of this window and click the Save Changes icon.
