Every day I apply for positions matching my experience and skills, however I didn't receive any response (only an automated response in some cases). Are these real job applications or a way to collect personal information?

The problem with applying on line is that you rarely have a name of a person to whom the application is sent. Most of those positions receive thousands of applicants, so the company puts them through a software program which only pops out resumes that have specific words in them. In short, you may submit hundreds of on line applications and not receive even one response. Yes, it's not fun and it's frustrating, but it's also possible that you'll snag exactly the job you're looking for, so keep trying. If you live in an area with job openings applicable to your skills, applying in person is always a better bet. Both you an the company will have a real person in mind when process goes forward. Have you tried your unemployment department's job search site? Have you received help on writing your resume from them? They can be quite helpful if you ask them for help. Have you tried temp agencies? You may get placed into a position which will go full-time. Check out agencies in your area.
