Why doesn't my avatar appear next to my posts?

I want to upload my own headshot (image) as my Avatar, how? I got a avatar, but it appear in Yahoo! Answers.?

    Go to your profile, then go to ‘Edit My Info’ and scroll down the page to go to the ‘Picture’ section. Now select ‘Use my Yahoo! Avatar’, then click 'Preview' and then click 'OK'.
