How do I take my actual name off the messenger screen?

Had a screen name, but when I tried to use it with yahoo messenger?

  • I had cool screen name for yahoo. was able to check my mail fine. So I decided to download yahoo messenger. When I tried to use my "cool screen name" with this, got a message that said my screen name was taken? But it's mine!! So I had to come up with new screen name and now when I go to check my mail, this new screen name shoes up. Where is my old one, how can it be taken when it was mine to begin with? Now I have to notify everyone that my screen name is no longer my screen name and give them this new one. I"M NOT HAPPY !!!

Close messenger and sign it in with your email id. Change the contact info in both areas for a screen name. Uninstall it in add/remove of the control panel if you have to and install it again.

That's odd, because I too have 2 screen names. 1 personal, and 1 professional. And, they both work. When I first got this screen name, it said the same thing. Then I logged into my E-mail under this one, and tried messenger again, and it worked. make sure you don't have any of the "automatically sign me in" boxes checked anywhere on your e-mail or messenger, and try it again.
