Answer:
1. Open your Mail inbox using whatever browser you like to use. Right-click the address bar and left-click on Copy. 2. Right-click any empty area on your desktop. (Note: When you right-click on your desktop, it does not get rid of the link address you just copied.) In the box that pops up, hover your cursor over New, and left-click on Shortcut. Paste the location that you just copied from the address bar into the box that pops up. Left-click on Next. 3. After you click on Next, name your shortcut. Click on Finish. 4. You now have a shortcut for mail on your desktop. You can leave it there, or drag it to your quick launch bar or Task Bar. If you would like a “real” icon, download one from http://www.iconspedia.com/ 1. Choose Download .ICO. This image has an .ico extension, which means that Windows will automatically recognize it as an icon. Left-click on the Download.ICO button and save the file (image/icon) somewhere that you can remember and go to easily. 2. After you download and save the file, go to your desktop and right-click on your mail shortcut, then left-click on Properties. In the box that pops up (the mail Properties box), you will see four tabs. Left-click on the Web Document tab and then left-click on Change Icon. 3. A box of icons will pop up (Change Icon will be up on top). Left-click on Browse to browse to where you saved your icon. Left-click on it to select it. Then left-click on Open. 4. Now you will see the same icon box you just saw a few minutes ago, only this time it has your Gmail icon in it. Left-click on it to select it, and then left-click on OK. Now you are back to the very first box. Left-click on Apply, and then left-click on OK. OR: To create a desktop icon to launch Yahoo! Mail, all you need to do is get to the Yahoo! Mail sign-in page any way you prefer. Once there don’t sign-in just yet. Shrink the browser page by clicking the middle icon beside the red X until only one computer screen icon shows to allow you to see a portion of the Desktop. Then mouse up to the browser’s address bar (the part with the http:// stuff) and drag the little Y! icon beside the address from your browser to a visible portion of your desktop. Desktop Shortcut Icon -Depending on which browser you have, as well as whether you are on a Mac or PC, you’ll get a little shortcut graphic representing your browser. You can also see that the name of the shortcut is based on the name of the page it is pointing to (apologies to Mac users who will have to settle for the URL). You can rename it with a right-click, and have it say whatever you like. If you have more than one account, you can set them up this way too. Other choices to download and use are here. Hover over the icon to find the download link.: http://www.iconarchive.com/search?q=yahoo
