With any page open, that you want a shortcut for ----right click a blank space up near the top and in the drop menu, click on "create a shortcut". Then click "yes or OK" if asked---"do you want a shortcut on your desktop"? It will appear immediately. It will probably have a "generic" icon----not the red Y----but it works perfectly.
