How do I transfer my contacts & some emails to my new address without hackers getting into my new email?

If any of your friends are guilty of using the To: or CC: section for lists of addresses, keep nagging them to start using BCC: and erasing all previous addresses in the body of the mails! That's the most common way for hackers and spammers to find working addresses to use in their schemes. If they don't get the message, warn them again, threatening to 'cut them off'. Use a very strong password, with letters, capitals, numbers, punctuation and symbols - the longer the better (at least 12 characters). Start with a sentence and make substitutions. Be sure it becomes a password you can remember. You could also use a password safe program such as Last Pass to store all-different passwords for each account, so that every one you use is just as complicated - you only need one good password to remember.
