How Can I Check If An Email Is Still Active?

How can I check the validity of all the email addresses in my contact list?

  • Is there a way to check and see if an email address is valid without actually sending them an email? I have had my yahoo email for a long time now, and I'm sure that some of my contacts emails are no longer valid. I hate sending an email then finding out two days later that the email is no longer valid. Does anyone know of a "check" I could run on my entire address book?

Hello, Interesting question. After searching around google for a good site I came up with this one: http://hexillion.com/email_validation/ Please note that some mail servers lie and will later bounce an e-mail that they initially accept, which for you means that even though it passes the test it may actually be a bad e-mail address. It's better than nothing though. A more accurate test is to see if an e-mail test message is bounced back to you. -Raymond
