How do I get a new email address and transfer from old email address to the new email address?

  When you close your account, you lose access to your Yahoo! ID, Yahoo! Mail, and profile names. (Yahoo) will delete your account data and settings across the Yahoo! network. This means you will lose all of your content in: Yahoo! Mail,Yahoo! Address Book, Yahoo Answers, Yahoo Messenger, Flickr and any other area of Yahoo! that can only be accessed with your Yahoo! ID and password." Once a yahoo account is deleted it and its contents cannot be recovered. In other words, if you close one account, you close them all! Just do not use it at all for four months, and it will become inactive and go away. If you open an ALTERNATE account you will not lose anything - contacts, address list, saved mails, folders. Send an email to all your contacts with the new email address. If someone sends mail to the old e-mail address, it will go to the same Inbox so you don't lose any messages. You do not need to inform anyone of the new address - there is a drop-down menu at the right in From: where you can choose which address to use for sending from either account. * Click the link below to get an extra email address for your existing account.
