How do I get my address book format back?

Is there any way to get previous address book back?? This new format is TERRIBLE! Last Name First is essenti?

  • "Last name first" is essential to locating all my relatives easily, or other friends & organizations. I also hate having them all in ONE LITTLE LIST(!) of very small print which I have to run up & down over & over, instead of clicking on a whole page containing the desired section of names. New format is WAY too time consuming & therefore madening. Please return to previous format!! It was FINE.

Hi, my answer is a long one. First, Yahoo has been completely reformatted and we cannot go back (yet), next they must have had a second-grader create this because it doesn't even work. I would not change ANYTHING right now, as I am sure Yahoo will give us the option to go back. Do not think you are alone. We are all up the creek. I am going to copy and paste answers from others here, and follow the instructions on printing out the "Contact List" which is your "Address Book" Just make sure you select the option that gives you ALL the information. Unfortunately it is listed by first name. Make a PDF copy and hard copy of the list. Yahoo has been reformatted and everything has changed, for the worse. My "Contacts" are now listed in Alphabetical order, by FIRST name, as are my categories - the page itself is blank except for the left hand 2 inches, where the information is found and scrolls very slowly. If you need your address book, by following these instructions, given by another answerer, you can get them. Be sure and select the box that contains all the background information. You might want to make a PDF copy as well as print it out. Here is the instruction chuck c Resolved QuestionShow me another » I want to print out my contact list with addresses so I have a copy in case something happens. How? I can't find out how to print it out. I like to make a copy to keep in case my computer would crash or get a virus. The new contact list only gives you the name, no address and that is by first name instead of last name. 1 day ago Report Abuse Shotsie Best Answer - Chosen by Asker Did a little digging and this is what I found. You can still print your address list. 1. Click on Contacts to open your address book on the left. 2. Click on Tools on the right. 3. Click on Print from the drop down menu. 4. Across from "Layout", check the radio button next to "Detailed View" OR Basic View. 5. Go to the bottom left and click "Display for Printing." You don't have to print this view if it is not what you want. 6. Click the Back button and select the the other view. 7. Click "Display for Printing" again. Once you have the view you prefer opened, click File from the IE toolbar above and click Print. 23 hours ago Also, Go to the Yahoo front page "Send Feedback" and let them know the problems you are experiencing. Nobody can even read the tiny faint print ! "Nicknames" in bright green, are gone, which were great for identification, no phone #'s etc. I timed myself on an urgent email to 67 people in a "Category" (there is a limit of 20 people maximum to an email, and I had a very rough time deciding which to select, as sometimes I have home email and business email, club (s) emails, etc. The email, which should have taken me all of 10 minutes, took me 1 - 1/2 hours ! Great job Yahoo ! One more thing, forward an email to everyone you know announcing that your email provider, Yahoo, has been completely reformatted and ask them, if they have Yahoo (of course) to "Send Feedback" at the bottom of the front page of Yahoo. It will be very difficult for you to do since we all cannot choose our contacts for emails, but go back into your "Sent" folder and see if you can copy and paste the list of your associates into the BCC box of the new email you have written. The "To" box should be for your email address. Sorry this is so long, but my Yahoo has been this way for close to two weeks and I am pretty frantic.

I have no idea, and I totally agree with you that this unasked-for change is infuriating. Who's the schmuck who thinks sorting by last name suddenly became irrelevant?

Some people think it will be returned to the previous format soon (I hope so). But the Help pages say "get used to it, cause it can't (or won't) be reversed----and they hope we enjoy it cause it's "greatly enhanced" and more user friendly". HA !!! I don't think so !!! In any case---the same functions, actions, and info are all still there---with the exception of "last name sorting", which they removed. The minimizing bothers me the most. In the meantime: (til they change it back) If "last name first" is essential for you---about all you can do is to edit each contact info and put last name in "first name box" and first name as the last. Click on the contact's name (not in the box)>>click Edit on the right screen>>switch the names>>click save". Not an ideal solution (even tho it works great)---but what choice do we have?

yahoo will be adding back the last name first functionality back soon
