Can you search for contacts by Yahoo name?

The auto fill feature for my yahoo contacts isn't working anymore. How do I get it back?

  • It used to be that I could start typing a name in an email and yahoo would search my contacts and list all those that matched. It has since stopped doing that and now I have to manually "insert addresses" from my address book for every email. This is time consuming and is driving me crazy. Why did yahoo stop the auto fill feature and how do I get it back? Thanks, Sarah

  • Answer:

The auto-fill problem is not universal, but varies depending on which Yahoo server the mail comes from. It can affect all browsers and Windows systems, and different countries, but for many it still works even for Classic mail. Solutions for those affected include switching to all-new or beta mail temporarily, since these versions seem less affected, or clicking the To: or CC: or BCC: fields to bring up the list of Contacts to check-mark. An alternate solution is to open the Contacts list in another tab or window, and switch back and forth to copy and paste the addresses while working on the mail.
