Where's the Yahoo "WHITE LIST" for acceptable email addresses?

Is there any way I could add other email addresses to my yahoo messenger list that doesn't belong to yahoo?

  ADD CONTACTS TO ADDRESS BOOK IN MESSENGER: Yes, if you have the Contacts in your Yahoo Mail Address book. IMPORT CONTACTS TO YAHOO MESSENGER: You will need to have the contacts in your Yahoo Mail Address Book. 1. With Messenger open, click on "Contacts." 2. From the drop down menu, click on "Import Contacts." 3. When the "Import Contacts window opens, click "Next." 4. When the next window opens, check the names you want to import. 5. Click "Next" and follow the prompts. NOTE: The selected contacts will receive an email from Yahoo inviting them to join you on Messenger. You will be added to each others Messenger's lists when they accept the invitation.
