How do I forward a letter to an unknown mailing address?

• I am trying to send a letter to a dear friend I lost contact with. I sent my letter to the most recent address I found on whitepages.com, but it was returned to me. I know I have the correct city and state. I think she may have a PO Box and I know the Post Office can not give out that information. What can I write on the front of the envelope to ask the Post Office, in her city, to please search for and find the correct mailing address and then forward/send the letter to her. Any suggestions from postal workers would mean the world to me. Thank you...

  Sorry to say that there really isn't any way to do what you want. We do not "search" for people. Just a suspicion that your friend might have a PO Box just is not enough to go on. I am sure that you may have heard stories about finding People when the address just shows Grandma, but these sorts of things happen in very small Post Offices. The town that I work in is only about 25,000 in population and you would never hear of that happening. Best that I could recommend is perhaps to use a search service that requires a fee. Some are only like 3 0r 4 bucks for a one time search.
