How can I delete the once ignored contact?

I have Yahoo!.mail and I can't delete a contact.?

  • I have the new Yahoo!.mail and one of my contacts has changed his address and I have the new address in my contacts. Even though I deleted the old contact address, it keeps coming up as one of my choices when I click on "compose message" and I enter the first letter of the new address in the address bar. (both addresses start with the same letter.) I have followed the following instructions and the old address isn't in my contact list anymore. "1.Sign in to Yahoo! Contacts. 2.All of your contacts will display in the middle column of the page. Check the box next to each contact that you want to delete. 3.Click the Delete button (this appears in the right pane of the page, above the contact details). 4.Finally, in the confirmation window that pops up, click Delete." So, as I've said, I have deleted the old address and it isn't in my contact list anymore, but why does in keep coming up as a choice (along with the correct address) when I start typing in the new address in the "TO" box on my new email? (both addresses start with the same letter.) Thanks for any information.

NEW YAHOO! MAIL IS STILL UNSTABLE....IT WOULD BE BEST TO GO BACK TO YOUR PREVIOUS VERSION OF YAHOO! MAIL... To go back to YAHOO! MAIL CLASSIC... Turn off Javascript - you'll then be asked if you want to return to Mail Classic, click "yes". If you don't know how to turn off Javascript... For SAFARI: Open SETTINGS>click PREFERENCES>>click SECURITY>>Uncheck ENABLE JAVA and ENABLE JAVASCRIPT IMPORTANT:Remember to RE-ENABLE JAVA and JAVASCRIPTING back ON when you are back in Mail Classic because without it some mail functions won't work. For IE: Open TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS >> SECURITY. In security click "CUSTOM LEVEL" -> disable active scripting in the scripting section. IMPORTANT:Remember to turn JAVASCRIPTING back ON when you are back in Mail Classic because without it some mail functions won't work. For FIREFOX: Open TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> CONTENT, click on "DISABLE JAVASCRIPT". Now hit F5 to refresh the page while you are in Yahoo! email in order to switch back... In the options, click (PERMANENT) to switch back to YAHOO! Classic. DO NOT click the "ONE TIME ONLY" option. IMPORTANT: Turn JAVASCRIPT back ON once you have your "CLASSIC" account back. Other answers

I think the answer is that yahoo mail is now acting similar to MS Outlook, in that it takes the 'auto-fill' address info from your previous sent mail history as well as your contact list. For example I just found with the new yahoo mail implementation that it was now offering to auto-fill addresses from emails I sent many years ago, whose addresses were not in my contacts. I have no idea where this data is stored or how one can clear it. It's not simply taking it from the send items folder, as that is empty! There must be a hidden list somewhere.
