What is wrong with the yahoo classic mail address contact list book?

Lost all my contacts mail and address book?

• 1. i received a phishing message yesterday from friend saying sad news. it's a scam. 2. i was asked by yahoo. to update my info. now i dont have any mail, contacts lost and address book gone. 3. Also now my contacts are receiving the same message from me asking for help for money the same scam. 4. please advise what to do . I need my mail back along with all my saved contact list and favoriates. please help

  Something similar happened to me October 2010. I contacted Yahoo and they reset my account back to a date prior to the phish event and I got back all my contacts and and address book. I will mention I do have a Yahoo Plus account. Not sure if that will make a difference. I think they still should help you. I still was not getting new mail though I could send out. I checked my mail forwarding and the culprit had entered a forwarding address to which all my incoming mail was being sent. It was my user name with a 1 after it. I eliminated the forwarding and then was able to receive mail. Lost about 2 weeks of new mail before I figured it out. I also then notified Yahoo's security and asked them to shut down the faked user ID. Never heard from Yahoo in response to that request. The phishing scam also shut down my facebook account. That one was able to be reactivated. My whole contact list got an email requesting money to get me out of jail in some foreign country. Fortunately, my contacts know me better than to fall for that.
