What is the simplest way to forward email to a new email address?

i need to drop gmail as an email account. i want a simple way to get my messages to come to another email address. gmail is becoming increasingly something that i have to work on figuring out, rather than just getting my messages and answering them. this wastes a lot of my time. since i am retired, it is not company time used figuring company problems - its my time! the category was forced on me. they did not have anything with the google label.
