How do I email to 'undisclosed' recipients?

On a distribution list, how do you enter email addresses of recipients so that they remain undisclosed?

  • The recipients on my distribution list should remain undisclosed on receipt of the email

  • Answer:

    You want bcc: (blind carbon copy) recipients. The details will vary a bit depending on the exact software you are using but most mail clients support them. It will probably take two steps. Usually a drop down list on the left side of the recipient line will let you choose to add To:, cc:, or bcc: recipients. Then another option should allow you to save it as a distribution list.

You need to put them in the bcc field. No one will be able to see each other if you do that.

The way I do it is address the email to myself and add all other recipients to the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) then the email addresses don't show up and even on a reply all they won't show up.
