Answer:
Point your cursor at their avatar, click on "+add to my contacts" in the pop-up. That makes the other user appear in your contact list and you will appear in his fan list. Don't be disappointed though, if he removes himself from your list again. In most cases it's not something personal, but rather that some users want to keep their network small so they can truly keep in touch with their fans and contacts. And yes, I'm one of those...:-) Edit: I almost forgot - Happy New Year!
