When ordering online, What is the address line 2 used for?

Sometimes people use it for an apartment or suite number, for example. Or Address 1 might be the company name and Address 2 would be the street address.

If your address is longer than normal, or if you need to state a suite or an apartment number that you live in or whatever.

it's for a box number or the like, but use it to put the account's name in lower caps without spaces and that way when they sell your address and you get something from the third party, you'll know who sold your name and address

Some people put a unit number by itself on that line or an "Attention: John Smith". I've seen others use it to shoehorn special delivery instructions into or a buzzer code to ring at an apartment building/condo's lobby.
