Which programs open .tif files?

Why can't i open my .tif files?

  • Okay, so i'm scanning in a file from one of my computers. And i'm using Windows Image Documenter. I'm saving it as a .tif file and sending it to myself through an email so i can upload it on my other computer, (because it has all my editing and art programs on it). But when i try to open it in my email it won't open because it says document is unsupported. I use GIMP, SAI, Photoshop, and an image converter. And they all support .tif files except SAI. but when i try to open it with GIMP and photoshop it says "file isn't supported" even though its a .tif file. What do i do? If you can include a step by step process that'd be nice. Here are my programs i use for scanning, and my scanner model. Scanning Programs and Scanner: Microsoft Document Imaging (Program i use to scan and save my scanned pictures) I use an HP ScanJet scanner to scan my images Art Programs: GIMP Photoshop (very rarely though) SAI in English (used it most commonly) Any help?

  • Answer:

I think your problem is with Windows Image Documenter. It is obviously not saving the .tif properly. If it can't be opened in Photoshop or GIMP then it's not a tiff - it might be corrupted. Try scanning the image direct from Photoshop instead. Or use the scanning software that came with your scanner.
