How can you compress a photo...?

  • Without using any photo editing software so that you can send it on the internet

  • Answer:

    You have to bring it into some basic editor - even a freebee - and save it out again as something like a .jpg. You can't compress it with something like Zip. Image files are big binary files that don't compress well - if any. You have to change the format. .bmp files are big - changed to a .jpg will be much smaller and retain same quality - on the screen though not if you try to enlarge them.

There is this program called irFanView and what it does is that its settings are different. When you save a photo with this program it is compressed to a smaller size.
