How to send sound through e-mail?

Why can I not successfully attach and send WAV sound files via Yahoo! email?

When composing an email I have a WAV file (Windows Audio Video file) I want to send. I use the "attach file" just like I do when sending photos and there is no apparent problem or alert that this is an illegal operation. Yet when the email is sent and received, there is no file attached to the email. Why?
Answer:

Could be two different things maybe. One is that .wav files may not be recognized by Yahoo mail and the other is: Have you recently downloaded some updates related to Yahoo? I did that a while back and it caused my attachments to not go out. Yahoo told me which update to rescind.
