How To Open Zip Files?

Why are all of my photos in my yahoo mail suddenly in zip files and how can I open them?

• I have two yahoo accounts and all of a sudden one day, I discovered that any photos I have in my mail are compressed into zip files. I can't even see the thumbnail, it's just the border of the photo with the name of it below that. I tried to save the file to my computer and then open it, but I don't have winzip. Thank you for your help.

  Save the file to your computer as a zipped file. All versions of Windows from XP on have an 'unzipper' process, so you do not need to download another program to unzip. Right-click the zipped file, and select 'Extract all' - a second file will show with the exact same name as the zipped file, which you can open to view your photos. You cab delete the zipped file after checking that the un-zipped file is accurate
