Why am I not able to send an attachment in my mail?

Why can't people open an attachment ( a windows word processor document) that I send them in e-mail?

I have items for sale and when someone e-mails me for information, I send them a Windows Word processor document that has prices listed and descriptions that I have made, the problem is this,,, these people e-mail me back and tell me that they could not open the document!!! Is there something that I'm doing incorrectly? It is all text with no graphics. I am able to send pictures to them with no problems. Is this something wrong on their end or mine??? HELP!!!

Unless the person has a program that can read Word documents they will not be able to read it. Microsoft Office that includes Word is not free. It cost hundreds of dollars. Tell them to download OpenOffice.org which is free and can read it. ɦəlʞɹɐq
