How do I open a pdf file in my e'mail attachment?

Open PDF file from email attachment with Adobe not Powerpoint viewer?

  • Everytime I try to download an attachment, which is usually a PDF document, it trys to open with Powerpoint viewer and it gives me a pop-up message saying that it's not a powerpoint document. So then I have to save the file to my computer and open it with Adobe. I'm just wondering if there is anyway I can make Adobe my default? I have Windows Vista if that makes any difference. It's frustrating that I have to go through extra steps!!

For some unknown reason, your machine thinks that PDF files open with Powerpoint. It's an easy fix. Save the PDF attachment to a folder or the desktop so you can find it again. Open the folder and right-click on the PDF file. Choose "Open With" (may also be followed by "Choose Default Program" Select Adobe Acrobat Make sure you put a check in the box "Always use this program to open this kind of file". Click OK. You're done. :-)

the easiest way to fix it is to save the file to your computer....right click it....select "Open With..." from the drop down menu...find Adobe in the list of programs and then check the box at the bottom that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", then click OK

The easiest way: right-click on a file (PDF) select [open with] and select [choose default program]. Select the appropriate program and check the [always use.....] That should be it.
