Photo share, file share, and display image do not work?

i have installed version 9, sometimes i can share a photo, but i cannot receive photos, either as file share or in the photo share window. i also cannot change my display image. i do all the steps, and it just does not update. when someone tries to share a photo with me, i either see just a gray box, or a pixelated version that never clears up. i cannot save it either way. i cannot receive file share, either, but i can send files to share, and they seem to go ok.
