Why does it take a very long time for Yahoo to attach files?

Why does it take a long time to attach files to my emails?

  • It seems to take for ever to attach a basic file even if i compress the file. All it says is its Scanning the attachement.

    If you regularly send pictures by email you really need to be taking them in the first instance at the correct resolution on your camera. On most digital cameras there is a low-power resolution setting which can be designated in different ways; it might be called VGA or it might be designated for emails - refer to your camera's user manual for the correct settings. If you are taking pictures at high resolution then they can take forever to go as they will be very large files and, as has been said already, if you are on dial-up you could probably read War and Peace before they go!!! If on broadband the upload speed to the mail server is a lot slower than the download speed. Also if mail server checks upload for virus etc this will add time to complete.

you are likely attatching large files dispite compressing them. you could try setting your browser to not scan the files but this is inviting viruses. just be careful about what you attatch, if you are attatching photo's then try turning down the quality of the pictures on your camera, if you are not printing them out then it will make almost no difference.

Are you on dial up? That takes ages. I sometimes have the same problem. Once it took 24 hours. However I send the message even when it says scanning and attaching and it always does it. Perhaps the size of the picture is big?
