How to send an email with pictures in Gmail?

How do I use Thunderbird to send pictures from Picasa?

• When you try to send pictures from Picasa it gives three email programs (outlook, gmail and Picasa Mail), I don't have any account with this email program, I will like to use my thunderbird email program to send pictures from Picasa. How do I make Thunderbird part of the email program list.
