Why does Digital Video look so terrible?

Why do i look really bad in pictures and video?

  • For some reason i am just not photogenic. whenever i see a picture of myself i look really bad compared the the mirror. In the mirror, i look fine but for some reason in pictures and videos, i look very different and more awkward. Is this normal? Is this how I really look or is the mirror how i really look? I thought about the idea that "the camera adds ten pounds" and maybe it makes my face look a little bit more fat and thats why i look so different but i very curious in why this is happening.

Its some form of bias that we have which varies across different individuals. I bet if u do a double blind experiment with photos you'll definitely get some interesting answers. Its similar to the left side bias which is more common.some individuals prefer the left side of their face more than the right although there are no noticeable differences.

Some people just aren't photogenic. It might because of the way the average lighting from a camera hits their skin tone or the grooves of their face. But often it's just that you don't realize what your face is actually doing when you smile. As vain as this may sound, I would suggest practicing smiling in front of a mirror and taking pictures until they look the way you want. It sounds silly but photos are memories. You want to look back on those and like the way you look.

Well video&camera the pick up all the different skin pigments that you dont see that much with the naked eye you can put make up on that will help :-)
