Why cant I download an Attachment?

Cant download file attachment....?

  • i cant download the file attachment (.doc) it gives me a blank page when i click the attached file. im using WinXp Pro ed, IE 5. please help!!!!! i need the file badly... :-( tnx in advance!

This is what Yahoo says. I think it might help you. When you receive a message that contains an attachment, you'll see a (paperclip) next to the size of a message in your Inbox or other folder. Attachments can be included in a message in two different ways: It may appear within the body of the message (inline) As an attachment box near the bottom of the message window. Listed below are the steps for viewing and/or saving the two types of attachments: Attachments displayed within a message (inline): To view an inline attachment, just read the message to which it is attached. If the inline attachment is an image and you would like to save it to your computer, do the following: Right-click the image and choose either "Save Target As..." or "Save Image As..." (Macintosh users will need to click and hold rather than right-clicking.) A new window will open. You can now save the attachment as a file. Note the name and destination of the file so that you can find it later. If the inline attachment is text and you would like to save it to your computer, do the following: Click the "Download" link at the top (or bottom) of the frame. Your message will separate into its component parts, allowing you to save each attachment separately from any text. Right-click the "Download" link next to the desired attachment. (Macintosh users will need to click and hold rather than right-clicking.) Choose "Save Link As..." or "Save Target As..." In the new window, save the attachment as a file. Note the name and destination of the file so that you can find it later. Once you've finished downloading, click the "Done" button at the top (or bottom) of the frame. Messages containing an Attachment box: Depending on the type of file you've received, you'll be given one of three options: Scan and Download Attachment: Click on this link to scan the file for viruses before downloading to your computer. If a virus is found, it will automatically clean the file (if you are a Mail Plus subscriber), otherwise, you can click on "Download Attachment." The attachment will either open automatically or a dialog box will appear requesting that you either open the file from its current location or save the file. If you choose to save the file, be sure to note the name and destination of the file so that you can find it later. View Attachment: Click on this link if you wish to view the file online without launching the associated program. Once you're finished viewing at the file, you'll be able to navigate back to your original email message. From there, you can choose to scan your file for viruses, download it, or delete the entire message. Scan and Save to my Yahoo! Briefcase: Click on this link to save the file you have received to your Yahoo! Briefcase. Yahoo! Mail will first scan each file you attempt to save to your Yahoo! Briefcase. If no viruses are found, you will be able to save the file. If a virus is detected, you will be notified of the virus and given the option to upgrade to Yahoo! Mail Plus to obtain virus cleaning functionality. Once the file has been cleaned, you will then be able to save it to your Yahoo! Briefcase. Security note: It is generally recommended that you don't download attachments or other files from a source you don't know and trust and that you use one of the many antivirus programs now available.
