Email isn't the best for large files especially since your email server or your recepients email server have restrictions on storage and attachments. How big is the file? Perhaps you could compress the file to zip, rar, uha or another compression format before sending it? Here are a few other options: 1. Use an ftp program to upload the file to a webspace and provide the login details to the recipient to retrieve the files. 2. Use a file transfer service like yousendit.com, megaupload.com,www.filefront.com ,http://up-file.com/index.php etc. 3. use a p2p file transfer protocal through an instant messenger like Yahoo. You can fine a lot of information about all of these basic options online.

You might want to put the file in a zip folder (compressed), something like WinZip.

Most email accounts only allow u to send up to 1 gig. Unless you have a PAY email account. You might want to look for some file sharing sites if u have a big file u need to send someone.
