How do i download photos that are sent to me on skype?

My friend sent me twenty photos over skype that we took together a couple of nights ago. I have downloaded them but only two have been saved to my photos on my laptop and then the eighteen others all say connecting and they have been doing that for about two hours now. I cant get my friend to send them again either because she isnt on skype anymore and she isnt allowed to go back on. I need the photos by tonight. Please help me, im desperate! Thank you <3

There should be an "Open" button or something like that. Depending on your platform of computer there are different ways to download it.
