How to open attachments in yahoo mail?

A red x appear's when i try to open my yahoo e-mail attachments / pic's. How can this be fixed ?

• i am useing xp home edition sp2. All of my e-mail attachments are the same. a red x... And the picture will not load. I checked out windows explorer, And the jpeg file types use widows picture and fax veiwer to open jpeg files.

  There are a couple reasons this can happen. One, if the pictures were not actually attached or included as part of the e-mail but instead were linked from another site. That site may have removed those pictures, or changed the address, or the link in the mail may have been incorrect. Second, the picture may be in a format your computer can not understand. Someone may have unknowingly sent you pictures in a file format created by a specific photo editing program that can only be opened by that program. If you don't have it, your computer can't open the file to see the picture. Third, it could be related to ad-blocking software. I had this problem with the privacy settings in Zone Alarm Pro firewall. Any .gif formatted image which was also a link would be blocked and replaced with that annoying little red x. The firewall considered any image which was a clickable link to be an ad and would block it. I just had to adjust the settings in my firewall and the problem was solved. You may have similar software installed.
