How do I get yahoo mail on Android phone?

I cannot upload or download attachments in Yahoo mail as of Oct 18, 2011.?

  • As of Oct 18, 2011 I have not been able to upload or download Yahoo email attachments (new mail version). I still have one Yahoo Mail Classic account and it works fine, but my two "New" Yahoo Mail accounts that worked fine until Oct 18, 2011 and now all attachments received show as a "piece of paper with the top corner folded" and will not open (download) and I cannot send ANY attachment as they won't attach. It is impossible to get in touch with anyone at Yahoo. I Googled this problem and found several blogs where others are also having this problem. Over 24 hours later and still not working. I tried my two Yahoo accounts in Firefox, Google Chrome and IE, same problem. I tried my Yahoo accounts on two other computers, same problem. I tried both Yahoo accounts on my Android phone, one account can open attachments but the other (main yahoo account) just opens up a screen that says "Options" and never even opens up my main mail screen after I log in. This same account worked on my Android phone several days ago. This is freaking annoying Yahoo. How does anyone contact Yahoo Support (free) for something that is wrong with THEIR product? What is going on with attachment problems? Why hasn't Yahoo fixed this problem? Why does my one Classic account still work fine? How do I switch back to classic mail with my other accounts?

    I have the same issue. For one user download/upload works, the other simply doesn't. It seems that they are aware of the issue. They posted a banner saying exactly this on the yahoo help page. In the meantime you can use the "attach large files" application. That seems to be working. Shame on you YAHOO!

I am experiencing exactly the same problem as described above and it occured on the same day. In short, I cannot download or upload attachments in yahoo mail using Internet Explorer 9, Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browsers. I can see the attachments on my iphone however with the yahoo mail app. If I forward the email from my yahoo account to a hotmail account, I can then open the attachment. This is not an isolated problem as it seems quite widespread amongst yahoo email users.

Same problem here. I had to use another e-mail account (not Yahoo) to send documents. Extremely frustrating.

I'm having the same problem. I've been using another account to send attachments but I have some attachments that were sent to me and I can't do anything with them. I'm really fed up and can't find answers.

Same problem here. Just had the IT person look for over an hour and he also states it is yahoo.

Same problem here, and also started on the same date, 10/18/2011. I have tried 3 different computers, 3 different browsers and nothing works. I have switched back to Yahoo Classic, but it still does not work. The only difference being that when I try to attach a file I get a web page that just says "Server Hangup". In the "new" Yahoo Mail you get no indication of error. It just does nothing. I have another, less used, Yahoo account and everything works fine there. I'm guessing that this problem is isolated to a group of user accounts, probably all housed on the same server or set of servers. Just a guess. Getting help from Yahoo via the web is impossible. We need to find a way to notify them of this issue. ADDITIONAL INFO: As of this morning, 10/20/2011 attachments seem to be working again. I can upload and download e-mail attachments so Yahoo must have found the issue. If you are still having problems I would say be patient as it seems that they are working on it.

Same issue - I even had the Geek Squad try it out - still couldn't open attachments with old email. My problems started yesterday too - be nice to get any answer...

Same problem and friends of mine from England are having the problem also. I just knew that when ABC got mixed up with Yahoo that problems were going to get worse.

Exactly the same thing happens to me. I have also tried several different computers with the same result. I have unfortunately done away with Yahoo Mail Classic and feel sorry for it at this moment. The only solution at this stage has been to go through Gmail but it means very big changes and if I have to do it, I will hardly envisage to get back to Yahoo. Receiving not a bit of assistance or information from Yahoo is extremely frustrating and may even result costly if this inconvenience has to last. This problem should have been fixed quickly and with the due apologies. If classic mail works properly we should at least be advised how to switch back to it!
