Letter sent to the old address, what happens to it?

What happens if i send a letter to my own address?

  • it wasnt me, it was my friend. he was planning on sending a letter to me. he lives in NJ. since hes really retarded and didnt know how to write a letter correctly, he copied the same address that was written on my letter. so in the center it had his own address and mine on the top corner. is the letter going to send back to his own house?

  • Answer:

    Yes, in a day or two, he will receive the letter that "he sent to himself". When he does you may want to let him know the correct address to put on the envelope. {OR have someone show him the right address to place.}

He'll get it in his mailbox in a day or two from when the postman picked it up. The return address is only for if the recipient refuses to accept the letter or if the primary address is invalid. So since the postman will likely just drop it in the mail box at his very valid address (he won't even be there to refuse it) it will just get delivered to his house. If your address is correct in the return address section (top left) and he wants to save money on stamps you could tell him to just write "Return to Sender" in bold permanent marker on the envelope and put it back in his mail box or drop it at the post office. They will then deliver it to you at no additional cost because your address is in the sender spot on the top left.
