Do you like Yahoo mail?

Why am I recieving spam mail from an email address just like my yahoo e-mail address?

  • For example I have a e-mail account with geocities but recieving nasty spam from an e-mail exactly like mine. From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] The only difference is that my company's title is not in the parenthesis like the sender. How can someone have my yahoo e-mail and be sending emails to me with the same name?

  • Answer:

It's just a trick spammers use to get your attention and to get people to open the emails and click on links for whatever product they are selling. You haven't done any harm by opening it. So they don't really have your address. When they're using your address, they use it only to send these spam emails to you. Others get similar emails with their own addresses. About the only thing you can do is delete the emails. You can't block them because you'd be blocking your own address. It has nothing to do with your email being hacked.

A hacker has your account details, and is using most likely an automated program to send emails to yourself to make you want to open them. You can 1) Change your password or 2) Make a new account.

Hackers and spammers do this with a program hoping to trick you into thinking you sent it to yourself. Don't open it!

I've got the same thing happening to me, and the sender is my email address. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I thought I had gotten hacked! :)
