How do I find out if I have been scammed by a person having a yahoo.com IM address?

I need to find out if this person is really located in the republic of Benin (Africa). She has told me that she will come over to the US, I sent her money via Western Union, it was collected and she claims it was not by her. So I am trying to find out if I can at least identify her email address and see if she indeed is residing in that country??? Is that possible?

This sure sounds like a classic Nigerian or Ghanian scam. Go to romancescams in yahoo groups to learn all about these scams and see that you are not alone. It is a large group, over 13, 000 strong with a lot of advice, info and support for those who were scammed. If you have received or can get her to send email to you, then you can trace and find out if she is a known scammer. Usually the scammers are men posing as women and photos come from model sites or are stolen from real people. I urge you to go to RS group. right now.
