How to stop mail from going to spam folder?

My AOL account sends spam e-mail to my contacts?

  • My AOL sent a spam e-mail to some of my contacts. I can't see what it sent, it's not in the "sent" folder. I know that my AOL account sent one because I got those e-mails from AOL that tells you that your e-mail wasn't sent to a contact because they don't have their e-mail accounts now or whatever. But what's going on?!?!?! I'm really mad because the e-mail had really inappropriate content and it sent to one of my teachers. What do I do? How do I stop it? I really don't like this!!

  • Answer:

The spammer could have obtained your password with phishing spam. Change your password. While you are in your account settings check for tampering with your alternate email contact address (if AOL has that feature). That could be used to obtain new passwords. Also abstain from clicking on links within your spam. Spammers' webpages can run malicious scripts. This runs within your browser and can tell webmail currently logged in within that browser to send spam.
